Staff Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the complete technical architecture for the platform as it transitions to the cloud and stabilizes.

• Strengthen the current on-premise deployment by enhancing fault detection and observability for video-capture hardware and RTSP streaming feeds.

• Integrate observability data into an OpenTelemetry-based observability stack like SigNoz.

• Design and spearhead the migration from on-premise NFS storage to a hosted AWS environment utilizing EKS and S3.

• Maintain the current video processing and anonymization pipeline while establishing a clear boundary between on-premise and cloud setups.

• Develop the cloud architecture design, data migration strategy, and infrastructure-as-code foundation using Terraform and Kubernetes.

• Set the architectural direction for the delivery team and document technical decisions thoroughly.

• Serve as the technical authority for the client's engineering leadership.

• Identify technical risks and debts early on and collaboratively adjust plans as necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated expertise in AWS solution architecture, including EKS, S3, VPC, IAM, and networking.

• Direct experience in migrating production workloads from on-premise to the cloud.

• Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.

• Experience with production Kubernetes/container orchestration, Ansible, and Swarm.

• Knowledge of observability architecture, including OpenTelemetry pipelines and the design of metrics, traces, and logs (SigNoz or similar tools like Grafana/Prometheus/Tempo).

• Strong architectural knowledge across a Django/React/Go technology stack.

• Excellent discipline in design documentation.

• Client-facing capabilities with the ability to guide technical direction alongside customer CTOs and their engineering teams.
