📋 Description

• Construct, validate, and implement machine learning models aimed at identifying and preventing fraud in real time.

• Enhance model reproducibility and robustness via thorough documentation, testing, and monitoring.

• Maintain data quality and reliability throughout pipelines and tools.

• Collaborate with the Risk Strategy team to brainstorm model inputs and applications.

• Work alongside Engineering to improve deployment and observability.

• Serve as a technical lead by prototyping, refining, and formalizing best practices.

• Guide the team in adopting best practices.

• Assist Mercury’s Risk team in detecting, monitoring, and mitigating both first- and third-party fraud while overseeing customer financial crime risk.

• Collaborate across product, engineering, and risk teams to safeguard customers and the financial system.


⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in working with and analyzing large datasets to solve problems and create impact, including more than 5 years in machine learning.

• Expertise in SQL, with experience in managing and interpreting imperfect data.

• Proficient in Python, with experience in statistical modeling and machine learning.

• Proven experience in deploying and monitoring machine learning models in a production setting.

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.

• Demonstrated capability to lead and empower others, delivering not only on personal tasks but also enhancing the performance of those around you.

• Skill in fostering strategic alignment among teams with varying roadmaps, timelines, or architectures.

• At least 1 year of relevant experience in risk management.

• Familiarity with LLMs or other Generative AI technologies and their applications in risk or fraud detection.

• Experience utilizing modern data tools for pipelines and ETL processes (e.g., dbt).

• Background in model governance as required in financial or other regulated sectors.

• Experience in developing zero-to-one solutions in ambiguous or greenfield problem areas.
