Head of Data

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of Fi's data platform and analytics strategy.

• Transform device, membership, and operational data into structured pipelines and warehouse layers.

• Design and sustain event-driven, incremental pipelines utilizing raw device telemetry.

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of four analysts.

• Oversee the analysts' workflow, provide technical support, and enhance rigor and documentation.

• Collaborate with Finance on subscription and unit economics, membership forecasting, retention and LTV modeling, hardware margin, as well as board and investor reporting.

• Work alongside Product and Hardware teams to analyze activation, engagement, and device performance.

• Create self-service business intelligence tools for stakeholders.

• Design and analyze experiments related to pricing, onboarding, and retention strategies.

• Transition the data team into a strategic partner deeply integrated within the business.

⛳️ Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in analytics, business intelligence, data engineering, or analytics engineering.

• Proven experience in building or significantly restructuring a data function.

• Experience leading analysts, either formally or in a player-coach capacity.

• Strong proficiency in SQL.

• Practical experience with a contemporary data warehouse and orchestration stack such as Databricks, Snowflake, Spark, Airflow, or dbt.

• Expertise in dimensional and event-driven modeling.

• Understanding of ELT trade-offs, incremental builds, and cost management.

• Excellent business intelligence skills in tools like Looker, Tableau, Mode, or their equivalents.

• Experience collaborating with Finance on forecasts, diligence documents, and margin analyses.

• Capability to operate effectively in an ambiguous environment at a Series B scale.
