Staff Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee financial data operations, including commission payments, incentive programs, and essential backend financial systems.

• Spearhead intricate technical projects involving engineers within the data domain.

• Guarantee the precision, scalability, and dependability of data pipelines that support financial operations.

• Collaborate with Finance, Product, and Engineering stakeholders to establish strategy and influence the technical roadmap.

• Develop systems that facilitate high-stakes financial workflows.

• Enhance platform-level tools for expedited onboarding of data sources.

• Integrate data with partners.

• Accelerate experimentation cycles.

• Construct analytics and data science infrastructure for swift decision-making loops.

• Formulate strategy alongside Finance, Product, Data Science, Analytics, and Insurance stakeholders.

• Identify and promote technical initiatives that enhance products, systems, and teams.

• Mentor and guide engineers in planning aligned experiments and projects.

• Contribute code during each development cycle.

• Lead incident response efforts and bolster system resilience.

• Collaborate with Staff Engineers to set and advocate for standards and best practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in data engineering or software engineering, with extensive knowledge in data engineering.

• Strong proficiency in Python and SQL.

• Expertise in Redshift, Spark, Apache Iceberg, and Terraform.

• Familiarity with Airflow and dbt.

• In-depth knowledge of AWS cloud architecture.

• Proven experience leading projects that involve multiple teams across various functional domains.

• Exceptional communication skills when interacting with engineering peers and senior business leaders.

• Capability to appear on camera for virtual interviews.

• Experience in developing large-scale finance, payments, and commissions systems is a plus.
