Staff Backend Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Singapore, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, manage, and sustain essential systems, ensuring reliability, performance, and availability.

• Shape the roadmap and personal career aspirations.

• Collaborate with the team to deliver new features and iterate based on outcomes.

• Lead projects from initial concept to customer-facing operations.

• Engage in open-source projects that extend beyond the team's direct focus.

• Take part in on-call rotations and manage operated services.

• Guide and support team members through mentorship.

• Engage in design discussions and work collaboratively with the team.

• Acquire in-depth knowledge of Grafana Cloud, customers, and extensive distributed-system codebases.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong experience in at least one programming language; familiarity with Go, Python, C, C++, Rust, or similar languages.

• Proven track record in delivering projects from requirements gathering and brainstorming to product launch.

• Experience in developing software that operates in the Cloud or in systems engineering roles.

• Proficiency in writing clean, efficient, robust, and maintainable software.

• Self-motivated individual with a proactive approach.

• Customer-centric mindset.

• Ability to analyze, design, and build modular solutions, deliver MVPs, collect feedback, and iterate effectively.

• Strong communication and collaboration skills in a fully remote environment.

• Bonus: experience in writing low-level code for databases, storage layers, or query engines.

• Bonus: familiarity with Kubernetes.

• Bonus: operational experience with Grafana and/or Prometheus.

• Bonus: exposure to microservices architecture and distributed systems.
