Staff Backend Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Design, construct, operate, and maintain essential systems, ensuring reliability, performance, and availability.

• Shape the roadmap and personal career aspirations.

• Collaborate with the team to introduce new features and refine them based on outcomes.

• Lead projects from conception through to customer operations.

• Engage in open-source initiatives that extend beyond the team's immediate focus.

• Take part in on-call rotations and manage operated services.

• Provide mentorship and support to team members.

• Join design discussions and work closely with the team.

• Acquire knowledge about the cloud product, customer requirements, and the extensive distributed-system codebase.

⛳️ Requirements

• Applicants must be based in Australia or Singapore.

• Strong experience in at least one programming language; familiarity with Go, Python, C, C++, Rust, or similar languages is preferred.

• Some experience in delivering projects from gathering requirements and brainstorming to shipping to customers.

• Some background in developing software for the Cloud or experience in systems engineering.

• Proven ability to write clean, effective, high-performance, and maintainable software.

• Self-motivated individual with a proactive approach.

• Customer-oriented mindset.

• Capability to analyze, design, and create modular solutions, deliver MVPs, collect feedback, and iterate.

• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

• Bonus: Experience with low-level code for databases, storage layers, or query engines.

• Bonus: Familiarity with Kubernetes.

• Bonus: Experience with Grafana and/or Prometheus in operational contexts.

• Bonus: Knowledge of microservices architecture and distributed systems.
