Staff Application Engineer, Salesforce

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and manage the Salesforce platform that supports sales and revenue operations across Mozilla's suite of enterprise products.

• Create the Salesforce Sales Cloud from the ground up, collaborating with the implementation partner until go-live, and take ownership of the platform thereafter.

• Create a scalable architecture encompassing data models, business-unit structure, security measures, integrations, and release management.

• Develop internal expertise for independent platform management and provide a production-ready Sales Cloud foundation for the launch of Firefox Enterprise.

• Oversee the technical integrity and ongoing evolution of the Salesforce platform.

• Formulate a roadmap for lead-to-cash functionalities, which include contracting, entitlements, delivery tracking, renewals, and finance integrations.

• Implement and assess secure AI-driven workflows utilizing CRM data and actions.

• Enhance platform reliability, data quality, release confidence, and overall user experience.

• Lead hands-on development efforts and review designs and custom code from both internal and external contributors.

• Specify data models, account and opportunity configurations, sales processes, role hierarchies, record types, and sharing rules.

• Develop and sustain Salesforce functionalities using Flow, validation rules, approval processes, custom objects, page layouts, reports, and dashboards.

• Design lead-to-cash capabilities that cover quoting, contracting, order workflows, service delivery, entitlements, renewals, and revenue-management integrations.

• Create and maintain integrations with NetSuite, BigQuery, the contract management platform, and other operational systems.

• Define an environment strategy, including sandbox governance, source control, automated testing, deployment pipelines, release controls, rollback practices, architecture documentation, and operational runbooks.

• Design and manage field-level security, permission models, role hierarchies, and sharing architecture in alignment with security requirements and ISO and SOC 2 standards.

• Develop secure MCP servers and integrations that facilitate approved CRM data and actions for AI assistants and agentic workflows.

• Collaborate with Sales, Revenue Operations, Finance, Legal, Security, and IT to prioritize platform investments.

• Create a sustainable support framework and address complex production challenges, vendor escalations, and platform risks.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of eight years in Salesforce engineering, administration, or architecture.

• Proven experience in leading or significantly contributing to the implementation and ongoing management of a complex Salesforce environment.

• Advanced skills in Salesforce's declarative features, including Flow, validation rules, approval processes, record types, permission models, and sharing rules.

• Proficient in reading, writing, testing, and reviewing Apex, SOQL, and Lightning Web Components.

• Experience in designing Salesforce data and security models for multiple business units, product lines, or sales processes.

• Strong knowledge of lead-to-cash processes, including opportunities, quoting, contracting, orders, fulfillment or service delivery, renewals, and finance-system integration.

• Experience in integrating Salesforce with enterprise platforms using REST or SOAP APIs, event-driven patterns, middleware, or integration platforms.

• Familiarity with building AI assistants, agents, or MCP integrations that securely utilize enterprise data and actions.

• Capability to clearly communicate architectural decisions and technical trade-offs to business leaders, technical teams, and implementation partners.

• Ability to work autonomously, establish priorities, and lead complex initiatives across multiple teams.

• A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

• Preferred: Salesforce Advanced Administrator, Platform App Builder, Platform Developer, Application Architect, or System Architect certifications.

• Preferred: Experience in setting up or enhancing Salesforce environment management, automated testing, source control, CI/CD, and release management practices.

• Preferred: Experience integrating Salesforce with NetSuite or another ERP system.

• Preferred: Experience connecting Salesforce with BigQuery or another enterprise data platform.

• Preferred: Experience with Workato, Celigo, MuleSoft, or similar integration platforms.

• Preferred: Experience in supporting service contracts, entitlements, delivery operations, subscription renewals, CPQ, or contract lifecycle processes.

• Preferred: Experience operating Salesforce within an ISO 27001, SOC 2, or similarly regulated environment.
