Staff Analytics Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Develop and manage the fundamental BI platform that facilitates reporting, analytics, self-service capabilities, and AI functionalities.

• Take ownership of data ingestion, integration, and overall platform architecture.

• Create and sustain enterprise data models, reusable business logic, and definitions for the semantic layer.

• Set benchmarks for data quality, testing, governance, observability, documentation, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD).

• Oversee the health of the analytics platform, detect pipeline failures and recurring issues, and implement scalable solutions.

• Evaluate and validate data pipelines, data models, semantic layer definitions, and data products.

• Guide Analytics Engineers through code and design reviews while promoting engineering best practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in analytics engineering or a related technical data analytics role.

• Ideally, experience within a SaaS or high-tech environment.

• Proficient in SQL at an expert level.

• Extensive experience in data modeling and the ability to craft efficient queries.

• At least 6 years of practical experience in building, deploying, and maintaining modular production data pipelines utilizing dbt.

• Familiarity with production Git workflows, which include branching, merging, and reviewing pull requests.

• Experience in automated data quality testing.

• Proficient in designing schemas and optimizing query performance on platforms such as Snowflake, Redshift, or BigQuery.

• Experience in implementing data observability platforms.

• Experience leveraging AI to enhance dbt workflows and expedite data modeling, testing, documentation, and code development.

• Proven experience in designing semantic models and enabling self-service analytics through governed datasets, reusable business logic, and reliable metric definitions.
