Lead Engineer, Analytics Platform – AI

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Oversee the design and development of responsive front-end interfaces, APIs, services, and the foundational data layer for analytics products.

• Define the technical strategy and architecture for scalable, secure, and high-performance analytics solutions built on AWS.

• Collaborate with product management to shape the roadmap, prioritize tasks, and deliver features utilizing Agile methodologies.

• Identify and lead initiatives to integrate AI and Agentic AI functionalities into analytics products.

• Work alongside data scientists to transition machine learning models from prototype stages to dependable, production-level services.

• Assess and implement large language model-based tools while ensuring data privacy, accuracy, and compliance with healthcare regulations.

• Design and sustain ETL and data pipeline processes for dashboards, models, and client-oriented reporting.

• Construct scalable data infrastructure leveraging S3, Redshift, Glue, Lambda, and Athena.

• Maintain data governance, quality standards, and compliance with healthcare data management protocols.

• Guide and mentor a team of engineers.

• Establish and enhance engineering practices, code quality benchmarks, and delivery processes.

• Communicate progress, risks, and technical decisions effectively to product leadership and cross-functional teams.

• Write and review code while steering the technical direction of the platform from start to finish.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years of professional software engineering experience, encompassing full stack development across both front-end and back-end technologies.

• At least 3 years of experience in leading or mentoring engineers, whether formally or informally.

• Proven track record of applying AI or machine learning in a production analytics or data product environment.

• Strong skills in front-end development using TypeScript, JavaScript, and React.

• Proficient in back-end development with Python and another language suitable for analytics and API creation.

• Solid understanding of relational databases and proficiency in SQL.

• Familiarity with AWS services including Lambda, IAM, S3, Redshift, Glue, and Athena.

• Experience with infrastructure as code using AWS CloudFormation and AWS CDK.

• Proficient in version control systems, especially Git.

• Experienced in delivering software through Agile methodologies.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

• Familiarity with healthcare data interoperability standards such as ANSI X12, HL7, and FHIR is a plus.

• Experience with healthcare claims data is advantageous.

• Hands-on experience with large language models, prompt engineering, retrieval augmented generation, or vector databases is preferred.

• Knowledge of MLOps practices is beneficial.

• Experience with SQLAlchemy and PostgreSQL is advantageous.

• Familiarity with Amazon RDS, Aurora, Redshift, Athena, Snowflake, DynamoDB, Spark, Terraform, Azure DevOps, and a broad range of AWS services is preferred.

• Background in healthcare or higher education analytics is advantageous.

• AWS certification is preferred.

• A bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience is preferred.
