Staff AI Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.

📋 Description

• Transform Kueski's current services, data platforms, and pipelines into systems that can be safely and effectively utilized by AI agents and models.

• Determine which infrastructure to wrap, refactor, expose, or phase out, and plan the sequence of this transformation.

• Organize and make Kueski's code, data, business logic, documentation, and operational status accessible for LLMs and agents.

• Take ownership of the retrieval, memory, and knowledge-representation components.

• Redefine software development through agentic engineering workflows encompassing specifications, coding, review, testing, and deployment.

• Establish standards, tools, and guidelines that incorporate AI into the development process.

• Design and implement agentic systems to enhance internal workflows.

• Lead the production of at least one critical AI capability and showcase its impact with data.

• Create evaluation frameworks, observability, and safety/compliance measures for AI in a regulated lending context.

• Tackle issues related to PII handling, model risk, and auditability.

• Develop reusable platforms and reference implementations.

• Foster engineering-wide fluency in AI through collaboration and mentorship.

• Transform isolated successes into sustainable capabilities.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in building and deploying AI products.

• Deep understanding of transitioning legacy organizations to become AI-native.

• Over 10 years of software development experience.

• Several years of experience in designing and deploying ML/AI systems at scale.

• Strong foundation in systems and software engineering principles.

• Demonstrated history of influencing at the Staff+ level and guiding direction across multiple teams.

• Capacity to make decisions in high-ambiguity situations with limited information.

• Insightful judgment on the build/buy/fine-tune/prompt continuum.

• Proficiency in optimizing for results and cost efficiency.

• Skill in aligning engineers, PMs, and risk/compliance stakeholders.

• Capability to provide direct technical insights when required.
