This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Support audits, reviews, and compilations.
• Prepare tax returns for individuals, corporations, trusts, and partnerships.
• Conduct tax research and aid in tax planning activities.
• Complete corporate accounting assignments.
• Generate financial statements.
• Communicate with reviewers, Managers, or Principals as necessary.
• Work additional hours during the tax season.
• Execute tasks in alignment with the firm’s methods, policies, and procedures.
• Prepare workpapers and individual tax returns.
• Prepare tax return extensions as required.
• Perform bookkeeping duties for individuals and/or estate trusts.
• Set up and organize engagement binders as needed.
• Prepare workpapers for estate/trust income tax returns.
• Collaborate with team members and engage in team-oriented objectives and activities.
• Prepare client correspondence and communicate with colleagues in a timely and responsive manner.
• Make daily decisions and adjust activities to enhance profitability.
• Identify opportunities to accomplish multiple tasks effectively.
• Carry out other assigned responsibilities.
• A Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is required.
• One or more years of relevant experience.
• A solid understanding of fundamental accounting principles.
• Exceptional oral and written communication abilities.
• Demonstrated capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong knowledge of US tax regulations.
• Familiarity with state and federal tax form procedures and the accurate preparation of these forms.
• Ability to prioritize daily tasks and meet deadlines for various clients.
• Knowledge of accounting processes along with advanced mathematical skills.
• Experience in consulting tax handbooks or other resources to determine the correct procedures for preparing complex returns.
• Proficient in using various accounting software and skilled in troubleshooting common accounting program issues.
• Personal integrity when handling confidential financial information.
• Professional experience in financial forecasting and risk analysis.
• Ability to sit at a desk and work on a computer for prolonged periods.
• Occasional non-local travel may be necessary, not exceeding 5-10% of the year.
• Occasional lifting of boxes and/or paperwork weighing up to 25 pounds.
