Staff Accountant – Custodial Accounting

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Conduct monthly reconciliations and analyses of custodial accounts to ensure precise recording of client assets, cash transactions, deposits, withdrawals, transfers, and balances.

• Oversee custodial account activity, promptly investigating and resolving discrepancies or reconciling items as needed.

• Ensure that custodial transactions are thoroughly documented, authorized, and recorded in compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.

• Track aged receivables, engage with clients regarding outstanding balances, and assist in collection efforts.

• Administer daily cash receipts, deposits, and totals of custodial transactions.

• Prepare and document bank and cash reconciliation entries for revenue, receivables, and custodial cash balances.

• Monitor cash activities, aid in treasury management, and examine unusual transactions or variances.

• Participate in internal audits, compliance assessments, and initiatives for process improvement.

• Collaborate with operations, client service, and management teams to address accounting issues and enhance financial processes.

• Identify opportunities for automating or streamlining accounting and reconciliation procedures.

• Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, financial institutions, auditors, and external vendors.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline.

• A minimum of 2 years of accounting experience, ideally involving cash management, reconciliations, or custodial/client account administration.

• Solid understanding of GAAP and accounting principles.

• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite.

• Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Capacity to manage multiple priorities while ensuring a high level of accuracy.

• Proven attention to detail and dedication to maintaining confidentiality.

• Experience with general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and financial reporting is preferred.

• A strong understanding of cash reconciliation and treasury management activities is preferred.

• Ability to work independently while also being a collaborative team player is preferred.

• Experience with custodial accounts, trust accounts, escrow accounts, client funds, or similar financial structures is preferred.

• Knowledge of financial services, asset management, trust operations, or custody-related accounting practices is preferred.

• Familiarity with Sage Intacct is preferred but not mandatory.
