This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Assist in upholding the financial integrity and operational functions of CEF of Virginia.
• Maintain precise and current financial records in a centralized manner utilizing double-entry bookkeeping techniques.
• Oversee accounts payable, which includes monitoring expenses, processing invoices, and evaluating and executing reimbursements.
• Create financial statements and reports in compliance with GAAP standards.
• Reconcile bank statements and ensure all transactions are accurately recorded.
• Utilize financial software to optimize bookkeeping processes and improve accuracy.
• Document investment income and ICS transfers.
• Execute transfers to and from the State Office’s and chapters’ bank accounts.
• Calculate quarterly billing for chapters.
• Provide assistance with payroll processing.
• Submit quarterly sales tax returns and aid in the preparation of Form 990 and VA-102 filings.
• Employ QuickBooks, including its budgeting module, for budget creation and reporting.
• Collect W9 forms and file them annually.
• Complete additional tasks as assigned.
• Report to the State Director and subsequently to the Controller once appointed.
• Operate independently in a remote work setting.
• Agreement with CEF’s Statement of Faith and ministry vision.
• Strong background in accounting.
• High level of proficiency in QuickBooks or comparable financial software for bookkeeping responsibilities.
• Capability to independently close books and generate financial statements.
• Solid understanding of GAAP principles and nonprofit accounting concepts.
• Outstanding accuracy, organizational, and analytical abilities.
• Capacity to work remotely while ensuring confidentiality and dependability.
• Expertise in double-entry bookkeeping and bank reconciliations.
• Experience in managing accounts payable.
• Familiarity with GAAP standards and IRS compliance requirements for nonprofit organizations.
• Associate’s degree in Accounting or a related field is preferred.
• Experience in nonprofit or fund accounting is preferred.
• Familiarity with ICS transfers or multi-entity accounting is preferred.
• 5–7 years of accounting experience.
• Preference for candidates in the Eastern Time Zone or nearby time zones for effective collaboration and timely financial reporting.
• Must possess legal authorization to work in the US.
• Willingness to undergo a background check is required.
• Must maintain a dependable remote work environment that guarantees confidentiality and accuracy.
• Ability to affirm alignment with CEF’s Statement of Faith.
