SSIS / SQL Developer – Data Migration

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pakistan.

📋 Description

• Design, create, and sustain SSIS packages for ETL workflows, data transformation, and automated data loading.

• Examine Oracle schemas, stored procedures, functions, and packages, and reconstruct them in T-SQL for SQL Server.

• Formulate complex T-SQL queries, stored procedures, views, triggers, and functions to support business logic and reporting needs.

• Review and transform Java-based ETL applications, including JDBC data access, batch jobs, and stored-procedure calls, into SSIS/T-SQL equivalents.

• Suggest modernization strategies for outdated Java-based ETL and data-integration applications.

• Execute unit testing, integration testing, and performance tuning of ETL pipelines and SQL scripts.

• Document migration plans, data mapping specifications, ETL workflows, and technical runbooks.

• Supervise and resolve ETL failures, data inconsistencies, and performance issues across production and staging environments.

• Enhance SQL queries and SSIS packages using indexing techniques, query plans, and execution profiling.

• Ensure adherence to data governance, security protocols, and regulatory standards.

• Collaborate with business analysts, DBAs, and project managers to gather requirements and convert them into technical solutions.

• Offer post-migration support, troubleshoot issues, and monitor performance.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline; relevant professional experience and certifications may be considered in place of a formal degree.

• Over 3 years of practical experience in developing and managing SSIS packages.

• Strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server (2016/2019/2022), encompassing T-SQL, query optimization, indexing, and database architecture.

• Significant experience with Oracle (10g/11g/12c/19c), including PL/SQL, Oracle data types, sequences, and schema administration.

• Demonstrated experience in Oracle-to-SQL Server migrations, covering schema conversion, data mapping, validation, data profiling, cleansing, and reconciliation.

• Proficiency in creating scalable ETL pipelines for large datasets, ensuring data quality and transformation logic.

• Basic knowledge of Java, Core Java, JDBC, JDK 8+, Maven, and Java IDEs like IntelliJ IDEA or Eclipse.

• Capability to read, debug, and migrate legacy Java-based ETL and data-integration applications to SSIS/T-SQL.

• Familiarity with Spring Batch or Apache Camel.

• Competence in SSMS, Visual Studio (SSDT), Oracle SQL Developer or TOAD, and SSMA for Oracle.

• Experience with SSIS Catalog and SQL Server Agent for scheduling ETL jobs.

• Familiarity with Git, Azure DevOps, or TFS for version control is preferred.

• Experience with SSRS or Power BI for reporting integration is beneficial.

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate or an equivalent SQL Server certification is preferred.

• Experience with Azure Data Factory or other cloud-based ETL solutions.

• Understanding of data warehousing concepts, including star schema, snowflake schema, and slowly changing dimensions.

• Exposure to Azure cloud environments and Agile/Scrum methodologies.

• Knowledge of data lineage and metadata management tools.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and effective communication skills.

• Capacity to manage multiple tasks and priorities within a fast-paced project setting.

• Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.
