Special Projects Deployment Engineer II

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Travel directly to various regional markets to transform raw spaces into fully operational network nodes.

• Physically install, mount, and secure routers, switches, firewalls, out-of-band management gear, and power distribution units.

• Install and patch copper Cat6 and singlemode/multimode fiber optic cabling, ensuring clean cable management, proper labeling, and compliance with structural standards.

• Verify power redundancy, circuit allocations, and thermal cooling alignment prior to energizing critical hardware.

• Conduct site acceptance testing for line-rate throughput, optical power levels, and redundant failover paths before handing off to the Network Operations Center.

• Troubleshoot field failures when remote engineering teams experience connectivity issues or loss of site visibility.

• Utilize OTDRs, optical power meters, and fiber scopes to diagnose and repair fiber breaks, dirty patches, and degraded optics.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

• 3 years of experience working autonomously in high-pressure field environments with minimal supervision, effectively managing time and logistics.

• Proficiency with standard networking protocols (TCP/IP, VLAN tagging, subnetting, DHCP, basic routing policies) and understanding of the OSI model.

• Willingness to travel up to 60–75% of the time domestically.

• Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a clean driving record.

• Capability to lift up to 50 lbs of networking equipment, climb ladders, and work in confined server room environments or telecom closets.

• This role is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.

• Preferred: Experience transitioning from power tools and cable crimping to configuring enterprise-grade network OS platforms such as Juniper Junos and Arista EOS.

• Preferred: Flexibility to work occasional non-standard hours or night maintenance windows.
