Special Education Teacher – Alt Ed

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oregon.

📋 Description

• Provide tailored virtual instruction to students with special needs.

• Oversee instructional programs for students with special needs from a home office based in Oregon.

• Engage in all phases of the IEP process.

• Collaborate with teachers and special education professionals to ensure the success of programs and adherence to federal and state regulations.

• Offer instructional support, virtual teaching, and general strategies for a caseload of students who need direct and/or indirect services.

• Create, document, implement, and supervise IEPs and 504 plans.

• Track student progress, finalize report cards, and hold parent conferences.

• Communicate with the IEP teams of students, including parents/learning coaches, related service providers, and school personnel.

• Provide direct services via web-conferencing software as necessary.

• Arrange, manage, and lead IEP-related meetings online.

• Participate in the school’s Student Support Team.

• Assist teachers and learning coaches in developing and executing program modifications and strategies.

• Help with IEP documentation, paperwork, and procedures.

• Coordinate related service providers as outlined in IEPs.

• Keep accurate records in the Learning Management System and special education software.

• Aid in state testing and organize IEP-required special adaptations.

• Carry out other assigned duties.

⛳️ Requirements

• A degree in Special Education or a related educational field.

• A valid Oregon Special Education certificate.

• Experience in policy (IDEA) and/or administration within Special Education.

• Proficient technology skills, particularly with Microsoft Office and Google Suite.

• Outstanding oral and written communication abilities.

• Highly organized and punctual.

• A customer-centric approach.

• A high level of flexibility and adaptability.

• Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

• A history of being a team player.

• Willingness to travel for marketing, state testing, and other school events, including occasional overnight travel.

• Capability to work effectively in a remote setting.

• Must possess a personal electronic device and an email address for two-step authentication.
