
Special Education Substitute Teacher – Contractor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.
• Deliver engaging and enriching synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences for students.
• Tailor learning to meet the individual needs of all students.
• Differentiate instruction in accordance with each student’s level of mastery.
• Enhance course content with suitable asynchronous and synchronous tools, guided by the principal and coach.
• Manage the grade book and uphold student academic integrity.
• Make decisions regarding student placement and promotion.
• Notify administrators of any concerns regarding student performance and progress.
• Prepare students for high-stakes standardized assessments.
• Foster and maintain a positive relationship with families.
• Communicate effectively and respond promptly to students and learning coaches/parents.
• Assist learning coaches/parents with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual classroom troubleshooting issues.
• Track student progress utilizing Stride K12’s learning management system.
• Travel as necessary, averaging once per month and/or up to 20% of the time, for professional development, student testing, and school obligations.
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Active state teaching license.
• Colorado Substitute Teaching Certification is required.
• Ability to pass the necessary background check.
• Preference for Colorado residents.
• Ability to work independently, typically over 40 hours per week.
• Capacity to maintain a professional home office free from distractions during work hours, typically from 9-5 (or 8-4) as defined by the school.
• Ability to collaborate with other educators to interpret and create numeric, tabular, and graphic representations of student data and use this information to inform instructional decisions.
• Open to receiving regular coaching from administrators and teacher trainers.
• Willingness to embrace change and adapt to ensure outstanding student outcomes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Capacity to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms.
