Special Education Math Teacher

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Deliver tailored course material in a virtual setting

• Offer instruction, support, and guidance while overseeing the learning journey

• Concentrate on the unique needs of each student as specified in their IEP

• Collaborate actively with students and parents to enhance educational outcomes

• Ensure that special education services and related support are provided as determined by the IEP team

• Communicate with parents and service staff regarding suitable therapies

• Create compliant IEPs, progress reports, and necessary state-specific special education documentation

• Facilitate and lead collaborative meetings for special education, including annual IEP discussions

• Utilize resources to implement accommodations and modifications, such as assistive technology, supplemental curricula, and accessible texts

• Adapt Stride K12 lessons and assessments to meet IEP specifications

• Promote student success within the general education setting

• Gather data and samples of student work to track progress towards IEP goals and objectives

• Document interactions with parents and interventions for students

• Analyze student data to recommend remediation and enrichment strategies

• Provide both synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences

• Maintain the grade book and uphold student academic integrity

• Make decisions regarding student placement and promotion, notifying administrators of any performance concerns

• Prepare students for high-stakes standardized assessments

• Establish a positive rapport with families and ensure responsive communication with students and learning coaches/parents

• Assist learning coaches/parents with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual classroom troubleshooting

• Collaborate with teachers and administrators to support student achievements

⛳️ Requirements

• Valid Special Education AND Math Teacher certification

• Bachelor's degree

• Active state teaching license

• Capability to pass required background checks

• Ability to collaborate with fellow educators to analyze and produce numeric, tabular, and graphic representations of student data for instructional decision-making

• Open to receiving consistent coaching from administrators

• Willingness to embrace change and adapt to ensure optimal student outcomes

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint

• Quick to learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Availability for full-time work, typically 40+ hours per week

• Capacity to maintain a professional, distraction-free home office during working hours, generally from 9-5 or 8-4

• Texas residency is strongly preferred; residents of NM, OK, AR, or LA may also be considered

• Willingness to travel up to 20% for in-person professional development, student assessments, and/or as required by the school
