Special Agent

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.

📋 Description

• Conduct investigations into criminal activities related to violations of the North Carolina Workers' Compensation Act.

• Assist in the investigation of fraudulent workers’ compensation claims, employee misclassification, and non-compliance with workers’ compensation insurance regulations.

• Respond to complaints received via email or phone.

• Identify instances of statutory violations.

• Collect, analyze, and preserve evidence, including both written and electronic documents and records.

• Interview individuals with pertinent information.

• Complete thorough and precise felony reports.

• Provide testimony in court proceedings as required.

• Foster professional relationships with both external and internal stakeholders.

• Attempt to serve process of Industrial Commission Orders to Appear.

• Collaborate with judicial officials and other law enforcement agencies across North Carolina.

• Travel to various locations within the central region of North Carolina to carry out investigations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Applicants must currently reside, or be willing to relocate within 12 months of the position start date, to Cabarrus, Davie, Davidson, Forsyth, Guilford, Mecklenburg, Randolph, or Rowan County, North Carolina.

• A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and two years of progressive law enforcement experience, including investigative and case preparation experience related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Must achieve certification as a Law Enforcement Officer per the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission within one year of employment, including meeting any annual training requirements.

• Current working knowledge of applicable criminal statutes and case law, including those related to arrest, search and seizure, and criminal investigations.

• Proven experience conducting criminal investigations as a Detective or Special Agent.

• Demonstrated skills in utilizing proper techniques for conducting criminal investigations, apprehending criminal suspects, and supporting the prosecution of individuals and/or corporate entities committing crimes.

• Experience in gathering and analyzing evidence and presenting investigative findings in a structured manner suitable for potential prosecution.
