Solutions Architect – Retail

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Take the lead on the technical strategy for clients and manage architecture discussions.

• Facilitate the adoption of the Databricks platform while acting as a trusted advisor to customer technical leads and architects.

• Oversee the complete technical strategy for accounts from initial discovery to production deployment and growth in consumption.

• Lead intricate architecture discussions and design scalable, production-ready solutions across data engineering, ML/AI, and real-time analytics.

• Showcase Databricks' unique advantages through custom-built solutions in competitive situations.

• Develop and announce an emerging technical specialization.

• Coordinate cross-functional resources, including DSAs, SSAs, and Partners, to deliver all-encompassing solutions.

• Offer structured feedback on customer needs and competitive gaps to shape product direction.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 6 years in solutions architecture, data engineering, technical pre-sales, or a senior hands-on technical position.

• Strong coding skills in Python and SQL, including live coding, debugging, and solution development.

• In-depth knowledge of distributed data systems architecture, scalable pipelines, streaming architectures, lakehouse patterns, and cloud-native data platforms.

• Proficiency with the Databricks Platform or a demonstrated capability to quickly achieve proficiency.

• Developing a technical specialization in an area such as real-time/streaming, ML/AI, data governance, or migrations.

• Capacity to lead architecture discussions with senior technical stakeholders, including whiteboarding, design reviews, and trade-off analysis.

• Experience with production deployments on AWS, Azure, or GCP, including considerations for infrastructure, security, and governance.

• Proven track record of promoting platform adoption and consumption growth within accounts.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex architectures as business value for both technical and executive audiences.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent experience.

• Databricks certifications are a plus.

• Familiarity with Snowflake, AWS native services, or Azure Synapse is a plus.

• Experience in a data/AI company or cloud provider is advantageous.

• Industry domain expertise is beneficial.
