This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Engage in technical discovery to evaluate telemetry, infrastructure, data volumes, tooling, and operational needs.
• Create comprehensive Observe observability architectures that encompass ingestion, pipeline structure, data modeling, enrichment, normalization, alerting, and data retention.
• Establish implementation strategies and architectural blueprints for the Implementation Engineering teams.
• Verify configurations, pipelines, and data models against the requirements of production-scale environments.
• Provide guidance to customers on strategies for adopting OpenTelemetry.
• Lead architectural planning from project kickoff through to the transition to dedicated Implementation Engineer teams.
• Generate reference architectures, design decision records, implementation strategies, and configuration standards.
• Assist Implementation teams with resolving architectural challenges, managing scope changes, and making architecture-related decisions.
• Conduct architecture reviews for go-live scenarios to ensure production readiness.
• Design target architectures and phased transition plans for migrations from platforms such as Splunk, ELK, Datadog, Dynatrace, and New Relic.
• Identify architectural deficiencies, data quality concerns, and technical debt, and devise scalable alternatives.
• Develop internal reference architectures, design documents, runbooks, and implementation standards.
• Construct and sustain production-grade field demo infrastructure.
• Document reusable field patterns and create resources for the wider Implementation Engineering team.
• Act as a technical authority on intricate customer scenarios and mentor junior Implementation Engineers.
• Contribute to integrations with adjacent solutions, process re-engineering, and AI refactoring efforts.
• Share insights from the field with Product and Engineering teams to shape the platform roadmap.
• Over 8 years of experience in customer-facing technical roles, including Solutions Architect, Staff/Principal Engineer, observability engineer, or SRE.
• Proven ability to transition from hands-on execution to high-level architectural thinking.
• Extensive expertise in observability platforms and large-scale telemetry systems.
• Knowledge of data modeling trade-offs involving logs, metrics, and traces.
• Significant hands-on experience with OpenTelemetry, encompassing instrumentation strategies, collector configuration, exporters, and multi-signal pipeline design.
• Documented success in designing or leading migrations from Splunk, ELK, Datadog, New Relic, or Dynatrace to contemporary alternatives.
• Experience in assessing complex enterprise environments and delivering durable, scalable, and practical architectural designs.
• Solid understanding of AWS, GCP, Azure, containerized workloads, and Kubernetes-based environments.
• Excellent communication skills with engineering teams and senior technical leadership.
• Experience in producing architecture diagrams, design decision records, runbooks, and implementation plans.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted observability or AIOps.
