This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.
• Act as the primary technical authority for solution architecture concerning data quality, remediation, automation, and AI-driven initiatives.
• Transform DET root-cause analysis into scalable solution designs that incorporate rules-based fixes, remediation strategies, AI functionalities, workflow modifications, and field-driven requirements.
• Create and uphold architectural standards, models, patterns, and reference designs across ERTs.
• Supervise the technical integration of data pipelines, automation scripts, AI/ML models, dashboards, and validation tools.
• Ensure that technical solutions adhere to DHS privacy, security, and records management protocols.
• Direct design reviews throughout the CARE lifecycle phases, confirming feasibility, scalability, dependencies, security, and sustainability.
• Collaborate with data engineers, AI strategists, developers, law enforcement subject matter experts (SMEs), and quality assurance teams.
• Recognize opportunities for workflow enhancements, system upgrades, and enterprise-level architectural modifications.
• Evaluate the impacts of system or process alterations on data architecture, integrations, and downstream reporting.
• Assist in developing training datasets, remediation logic, and validation practices for AI-enabled solutions.
• Generate documentation such as sequence diagrams, architecture briefs, system mappings, interface specifications, and implementation guidelines.
• Offer technical leadership during backlog refinement and prioritize DETs based on dependencies, feasibility, and architecture.
• Track emerging technologies and suggest updates to architectural frameworks, toolsets, and best practices.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline; a Master’s degree is preferred.
• At least 8 years of experience in solution architecture, systems design, data architecture, or enterprise integration within complex technical settings.
• Strong understanding of cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), ETL/ELT pipelines, microservices, REST APIs, and security-oriented architectures.
• Experience in supporting data-centric operational systems, preferably in law enforcement or other mission-critical governmental environments.
• Proficiency with contemporary data and development toolsets (SQL, Python, Databricks, UiPath, Spark, Git, CI/CD pipelines, etc.).
• Outstanding communication skills, with experience in briefing both technical and executive-level stakeholders.
• Proven ability to document architectures, manage system dependencies, design workflows, and lead cross-functional technical workstreams.
• Experience working within DHS, ICE, or similar environments is highly preferred.
