Solaris Administrator – Level 2

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Administer and oversee Solaris 10 and Solaris 11 environments

• Operate and support both global and non-global zones, LDOMs, system services, along with their associated configurations

• Manage UFS and ZFS file systems, including pools, mounts, capacity, snapshots, and routine operations

• Conduct installations, upgrades, patching, post-change validation, and preventive maintenance tasks

• Analyze alerts, logs, performance issues, and incidents impacting servers, services, networks, or storage

• Engage in backups, restores, recovery testing, and disaster recovery efforts

• Confirm LUN visibility, SAN paths, and multipathing in conjunction with storage specialists

• Prepare and implement changes and migrations in line with approved procedures and rollback plans

• Automate administrative tasks utilizing shell scripts, Ansible, or equivalent tools

• Document interventions and update tickets, procedures, inventories, and operational guides

• Participate in knowledge transfer and a scheduled on-call rotation

⛳️ Requirements

• Possess a Bachelor's degree or college diploma in Computer Science, or equivalent training

• A minimum of 5 years' experience in Unix/Linux administration, with at least 3 years focused on Solaris

• Strong expertise in Solaris 10 and Solaris 11, including Solaris Zones, ZFS, UFS, and a working knowledge of LDOMs

• Experience in installation, patching, maintenance, troubleshooting, and incident resolution

• Familiarity with backups, restores, disaster recovery environments, and change procedures

• Basic to intermediate knowledge of SAN, Fibre Channel, HBAs, LUNs, multipathing, and TCP/IP

• Knowledge of Linux, VMware, Oracle, Zabbix, IBM TSM, Rubrik, or NetBackup is an asset

• Proficiency in Ansible, shell scripting, and using a ticket management tool

• Excellent verbal and written French; functional technical English

• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, analytical, service-minded, and capable of working in a critical environment
