Software Quality Engineering Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Egypt.

📋 Description

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of SDETs, encompassing recruitment, performance evaluation, and career advancement.

• Provide support to various scrum delivery teams regarding estimation, planning, and testing strategies for both web and mobile applications.

• Take ownership of the release management process across all products.

• Manage test case coverage, defect reporting, and quality metrics.

• Establish and expand automated testing frameworks for UI and API test automation.

• Promote QA best practices throughout development and engineering teams.

• Implement lightweight checks and balances to avert regressions and production issues.

• Define and refine QA practices for AI-native features, including validation of LLM and agent outputs, as well as testing agentic workflows.

• Organize and spearhead engineering special initiatives, focusing on process enhancement, tool evaluation and qualification, and the development of testing frameworks and techniques.

• Report directly to the Senior Products Director and collaborate closely with them to implement the testing strategy.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of pertinent development or testing experience.

• More than 7 years in quality roles, testing and automating large-scale, customer-facing systems with complex distributed integrations.

• At least 3 years managing SDETs tasked with qualifying features throughout the complete software development lifecycle.

• Exceptional understanding of QE automation architecture, methodologies, processes, and tools.

• Practical experience in building QE automation frameworks for frontend and backend applications, utilizing tools such as Cucumber, Selenium, Rest Assured, TestNG, and SOAPUI.

• Proven track record of creating multiple test frameworks from the ground up.

• Proficient in Java or Python.

• Familiarity with databases, SQL, and scripting languages.

• Solid understanding of REST and RESTful services.

• Experience collaborating with remote and distributed teams.

• Background in Agile Scrum teams.

• Capability to collaborate and influence cross-functional teams.

• Ability to enhance efficiency through process improvement and automation, increase test coverage, minimize customer-impacting defects, make risk-based decisions, and mentor engineers.

• Proficient in developing, implementing, and supporting an automation test strategy.

• Advanced proficiency in AI at a minimum Level L5, applying AI within QA, test automation, defect analysis, test data generation, and quality-risk assessment.

• Experience leveraging AI to generate and expand test cases, expedite automation development and debugging, analyze logs and defects, create edge-case test data, and assess coverage and release-quality metrics.

• Strong grasp of testing AI/agent-based features, including hallucination detection, grounding, guardrails, fallback behavior, and prompt-injection resistance.

• Familiarity with tools such as Claude is essential.

• AI-generated outputs must undergo critical review and validation prior to use in testing or release decisions.

• Comprehensive knowledge of software quality engineering, engineering management, test automation, API and UI testing, AI-native quality engineering, release management, Agile software delivery, DevOps and CI/CD, cloud and container technologies, quality strategy and process enhancement, and leadership and people management.
