Software Quality Engineering Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.

📋 Description

• Oversee and guide a team of QA engineers across various product lines.

• Distribute QA resources among simultaneous projects and sprints in accordance with release priorities and risk factors.

• Cultivate a culture centered around quality ownership and ongoing improvement.

• Take charge of QA strategy and test planning, which includes functional, regression, and release testing.

• Establish and uphold risk-based test coverage.

• Ensure the right level of investment and upkeep of test automation.

• Lead the shift from manual to automated testing practices.

• Evaluate, prioritize, and manage automation investments across different squads.

• Enhance team capabilities in automation methodologies through coaching and practical guidance.

• Advocate for AI-assisted testing, test generation, and quality tooling.

• Initiate and expand AI-assisted QA methodologies.

• Oversee QA processes throughout the entire release lifecycle, encompassing regression cycles and release approvals.

• Collaborate with Engineering Managers to guarantee developer participation in testing activities.

• Assist in incident and defect triage, including follow-ups on root causes.

• Serve as the primary QA liaison for designated product lines.

• Relay quality status, risks, and release readiness to stakeholders.

• Work together on organization-wide automation standards and shift-left initiatives.

• Monitor and report on quality metrics, including defect trends, test coverage, and regression results.

• Proactively escalate risks and obstacles.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in software QA.

• At least 2 years in a QA leadership or team management position.

• Proven experience managing QA for multiple products or projects simultaneously.

• Experience guiding a team through the transition from manual to automated testing.

• Strong grasp of test automation principles and the test pyramid.

• Capability to steer teams away from an overemphasis on UI/E2E automation.

• Working knowledge of or a sincere interest in AI-assisted development and testing methodologies.

• Familiarity with heterogeneous or legacy technology stacks is advantageous.

• Understanding of risk-based testing and regression planning for enterprise SaaS products.

• Exceptional communication skills with stakeholders.

• Experience with Azure DevOps or comparable test/work management tools.

• Domain knowledge in risk management or compliance software is a plus, though not essential.
