Software Quality Assurance Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Act as the senior technical authority and subject matter expert in software quality assurance and test automation.

• Develop and implement the automation-first QA strategy.

• Set QA standards, processes, procedures, test design, reporting, defect management, and criteria for release gates.

• Mentor and lead QA engineers, reviewing test artifacts, automation scripts, and quality reports.

• Represent QA in IPRs, MSRs, sprint ceremonies, and forums governed by the Government.

• Present updates on quality posture, metrics, risks, and improvement initiatives to leadership and Government stakeholders.

• Design and manage the automated test framework, integrating it into the Government-managed DevSecOps pipeline.

• Oversee automated unit, integration, regression, system, and end-to-end functional testing.

• Promote Test-Driven Development (TDD) across functional delivery teams.

• Manage the Test Automation State Assessment and create automation completion plans with milestone tracking.

• Automate existing legacy test cases while ensuring new functionalities are automated.

• Assess and enhance framework efficiency, reliability, coverage, and test throughput at the sprint level.

• Deliver QA program outputs, including Requirements Traceability Matrices (RTMs), User Acceptance Testing (UAT) plans, test reports, release notes, VPATs, and the Quality Control Plan (QCP).

• Maintain Requirements Traceability Matrices and ensure comprehensive test coverage.

• Define, monitor, and uphold contractual Acceptable Quality Level (AQL) thresholds.

• Lead defect triage and root cause analysis within JIRA until resolution.

• Oversee Section 508 / WCAG 2.0 Level AA accessibility testing.

• Report on accessibility compliance posture and metrics while driving remediation efforts.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 12 years of experience with a BS/BA; at least 10 years with an MS/MA; a minimum of 7 years with a Ph.D.; or 16 years with a high school diploma.

• Active Public Trust clearance.

• Must be a U.S. Citizen.

• Cybersecurity workforce certification (e.g., Security+, CASP+).

• At least 3 years in a senior or lead QA position on DoW or Federal government programs.

• Proficiency in designing and managing enterprise-scale automated test frameworks using tools like Selenium, JUnit, TestNG, Cucumber, REST Assured, Python, Java, or similar technologies.

• Familiarity with Test-Driven Development (TDD), Agile/Scrum methodologies, and DevSecOps QA integration practices.

• Proven experience in developing and managing formal QA program artifacts, including RTMs, UAT plans, test reports, and SMP/CMPs.

• Skilled in using JIRA for defect management, sprint tracking, and AQL reporting.

• Experience leading Section 508 / WCAG 2.0 Level AA accessibility testing initiatives and preparing VPATs.

• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement capabilities; able to present quality posture and metrics to Government customers and senior program leaders.

• Preferred: ISTQB Advanced Level certification or equivalent.

• Preferred: Certified Software Quality Engineer (CSQE) certification.

• Preferred: experience with eMASS and Fortify Software Security Center.

• Preferred: experience in supporting DMDC, DEERS, TRICARE, or other large-scale healthcare/benefits IT systems.

• Preferred: knowledge of NIST SP 800-53 Rev 5 security controls.

• Preferred: familiarity with ISO/IEC 14764 and ISO/SEI-CMM quality process frameworks.

• Preferred: experience with performance and load testing tools such as JMeter or LoadRunner.

• Preferred: knowledge of ServiceNow, SharePoint, and Microsoft Project Server.

• Preferred: experience in Oracle / PL/SQL or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) application environments.
