Software Quality Assurance Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Independently create, develop, implement, and sustain automated unit, integration, regression, and end-to-end functional tests.

• Incorporate automated test cases into the Government-managed DevSecOps pipeline by the conclusion of each Agile sprint.

• Utilize Test-Driven Development and ensure test coverage aligns with functional requirements.

• Direct Test Automation State Assessments and generate automation completion estimates.

• Automate legacy test cases in accordance with Government-approved timelines.

• Assess and enhance test architecture, reusability, and pipeline integration.

• Guide junior QA engineers in automation best practices, script development, and tool utilization.

• Create and manage Requirements Traceability Matrices at the end of each sprint.

• Record test activities, results, and defects within the Government-provided Test Case Management System.

• Compile Testing Reports, Release Notes, and Software Version Descriptions.

• Uphold quality thresholds and ensure zero-defect production releases.

• Oversee JIRA defect triage and root cause analysis; manage escalation workflows.

• Provide weekly defect escalation reports to clients and the Government Product Owner.

• Perform Section 508 / WCAG 2.0 Level AA accessibility testing and prepare VPATs.

• Conduct stress and load testing in the ProdSim environment.

• Coordinate Disaster Recovery testing and support IV&V prior to production deployment.

• Engage in Agile ceremonies and maintain sprint-level QA metrics in JIRA.

• Enforce SDLC quality gates and escalate non-conforming deliverables.

• Take ownership of and submit the monthly Quality Status Report.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in software quality assurance, test automation engineering, or related software testing roles with a BS/BA, or 3 years with an MS/MA.

• Must be a citizen of the United States.

• Active Public Trust clearance required.

• Cybersecurity workforce certification (e.g., Security+, CASP+) is necessary.

• Practical experience in designing and implementing automated test frameworks and scripts using Selenium, JUnit, TestNG, Cucumber, Python, Java, or equivalent tools.

• Familiarity with Test-Driven Development (TDD) practices within Agile sprint cycles.

• Proficient in using JIRA for defect tracking, sprint management, and reporting purposes.

• Experienced in developing Requirements Traceability Matrices (RTMs), UAT plans, and formal testing documentation.

• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and automated test integration within a DevSecOps environment.

• Experience with Section 508 / WCAG 2.0 Level AA accessibility testing and VPAT preparation.

• Excellent communication and documentation abilities; capable of reporting QA status and metrics to program leadership and Government stakeholders.

• Preferred: ISTQB Foundation or Advanced Level certification.

• Preferred: Background in supporting DoD or Federal government IT programs with formal QA deliverable obligations.

• Preferred: Knowledge of eMASS and Fortify Software Security Center.

• Preferred: Previous experience with DEERS, TRICARE, or other DoD healthcare/benefits systems.

• Preferred: Understanding of NIST SP 800-53 Rev 5 security controls.

• Preferred: Experience with performance/load testing tools and execution of stress tests in production-simulation environments.

• Preferred: Familiarity with ServiceNow.

• Preferred: Experience mentoring junior QA team members and reviewing test artifacts.
