Software Engineering Technical Leader

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Switzerland, +5 more countries.

📋 Description

• Create software that aligns with Cisco Design Thinking Principles, emphasizing simplification and user experience.

• Apply secure coding methodologies, safeguard user privacy, and adhere to best practices in software development.

• Collaborate with design, product management, and various teams to develop solutions that prioritize customer needs.

• Produce technical design documentation and contribute to documentation intended for end users.

• Introduce innovative ideas for product improvement and enhance software development methodologies.

• Diagnose and resolve intricate issues that impact business strategy.

• Formulate and execute innovative strategies that benefit customers and clients.

• Steer significant business initiatives that influence a specific region or the entire function, validating the model on Isovalent prior to wider SBG engineering implementation.

• Participate in setting annual goals and priorities for the organization.

• Establish and sustain relationships with stakeholders, including central program management and product management.

• Convert strategic vision into a technical roadmap and clear engineering objectives.

• Lead projects that span across business segments, functions, or regions.

• Manage the development of major features from technical design to completion.

• Oversee the software development lifecycle and agile engineering approaches, including integrations that connect ticketing systems, meeting recordings and transcripts, and milestone data into a unified source of truth.

• Shape technical direction and deliverables across the function.

• Determine system-wide trade-offs and new product categories, including internal status/reporting systems as product offerings.

• Guide design decisions across Cisco’s product offerings.

• Establish metrics and influence product adoption, direction, and efficiency in cross-team alignment.

• Develop and set standards for clean functional code.

• Implement processes for identifying issues, sustainable responses, proactive tooling, and continuous improvement for production systems.

• Represent or showcase team outputs at external events when appropriate.

• Convey priorities, deadlines, and changes in requirements within the framework of engineering priorities and user necessities.

• Negotiate trade-offs concerning timing, design, and specifications.

• Lead, mentor, and inspire senior engineers.

• Design systems that enhance the searchability, connectivity, and utility of meeting recordings, transcripts, and status materials for engineering and product teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree with 12 years of relevant experience, a Master’s degree with 8 years of experience, or a PhD with 5 years of related experience.

• Specialized depth and/or breadth of knowledge in the primary job family or area of expertise.

• A diverse range of experiences and advanced technical skills to act as an advisor to management.

• Proven experience in designing and building internal engineering tools, integrations, APIs, or data pipelines across systems such as Jira, GitHub, CDET, collaboration platforms, and meeting recording or transcription services.

• Experience transforming fragmented operational data into reliable, searchable, and actionable insights regarding milestones, dependencies, and delivery status.

• A history of treating internal developer or process tooling as a product, establishing defined users, clear UX standards, and metrics for adoption or impact.

• Comfort in acting as the technical lead for a cross-functional initiative, directly collaborating with engineering, product management, and central PM teams.

• Experience in identifying and integrating with existing enterprise processes and systems, rather than developing parallel information sources.

• A track record of validating an approach with one team, measuring its impact, and scaling it across a wider organization.
