Software Engineer – Repositories

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Create and enhance registries, APIs, and systems for serving artifacts that are customer-facing.

• Execute projects and features from the technical design phase through testing, deployment, monitoring, and iterative improvements.

• Design and maintain backend services in Go that cater to Libraries and various artifact types.

• Contribute to the scalability, reliability, observability, performance, and load testing of production systems.

• Engage in design discussions regarding service boundaries, APIs, data flows, and operational patterns.

• Collaborate with engineers and product partners throughout Chainguard.

• Conduct code reviews, share expertise, and support a collaborative engineering team.

• Investigate and address production issues.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in software development, including some experience with backend or infrastructure systems.

• Proficiency in Go, or strong programming skills in another language with the capability to quickly learn Go.

• Experience in contributing to software projects from the implementation stage through testing and release.

• Interest in customer-facing infrastructure like package registries, artifact repositories, APIs, developer platforms, or backend systems.

• Familiarity with testing, code reviews, debugging, and version control systems.

• Experience with deploying or operating services in a production environment, or a strong desire to develop these skills.

• A systems-oriented mindset and a keen sense of curiosity.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a remote setting.

• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure or infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform is advantageous but not mandatory.
