This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Missouri.
• Lead, mentor, and cultivate software engineers throughout the entire employee lifecycle.
• Take ownership of consistent delivery and operational results for products and services.
• Forge trusted relationships with leaders in Investments, Investment Operations, and Investment Accounting.
• Comprehend processes and control points across portfolio management, trading, settlement, positions, valuations, performance, risk, cash, securities accounting, reconciliation, and financial reporting.
• Collaborate with Product Management and Product Owners on roadmaps, outcomes, dependencies, capacity, and engineering tasks.
• Work alongside architecture teams to implement target-state architecture and approved patterns.
• Set standards for secure coding, peer reviews, automated testing, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, observability, documentation, release management, and maintainability.
• Guide the delivery of modern web applications, services, data pipelines, and integrations utilizing cloud-native, serverless, containerized, API-first, event-driven, streaming, batch, and file-based patterns.
• Oversee engineering efforts related to investment platforms and external providers.
• Manage vendor performance, upgrades, integration strategies, and decisions regarding build versus buy versus configure.
• Ensure production services meet expectations for availability, recoverability, performance, monitoring, incident response, problem management, and disaster recovery.
• Integrate security, privacy, segregation of duties, data lineage, traceability, logging, evidence retention, and control requirements into the delivery process.
• Oversee team budget, vendor expenditures, staffing composition, hiring, capacity, and forecasts.
• Assess and responsibly implement emerging technologies, including generative AI and agentic engineering tools.
• Communicate updates on delivery progress, operational health, risks, dependencies, investment needs, and decisions to technical, business, and executive audiences.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience (required).
• 9+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, application development, platform engineering, data engineering, or related technology disciplines (required).
• 3+ years of formal people-management experience leading software engineering teams (required).
• Accountability for delivering and operating business-critical technology products or platforms in a complex enterprise environment.
• Experience supporting investments, asset management, investment accounting, capital markets, treasury, finance, or related business capabilities.
• Experience working in an agile, product-oriented technology organization.
• Strong understanding of modern software engineering practices, APIs, event-driven architecture, automated testing, secure software development, source control, CI/CD, observability, and infrastructure as code.
• Proficient in modern application, data, and cloud technologies.
• Hands-on experience with AWS or a similar public-cloud ecosystem.
• Practical knowledge of investment data and processes.
• Familiarity with front-, middle-, and back-office operating models and IBOR/ABOR concepts.
• Knowledge of one or more asset classes.
• Ability to lead engineering teams that integrate with investment platforms, accounting systems, market-data providers, custodians, and internal data platforms.
• Understanding of financial and insurance control environments, auditability, data lineage, access controls, change management, segregation of duties, model governance, SOX ITGC, and SOC reporting.
• Advanced skills in leadership, communication, facilitation, negotiation, and stakeholder management.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and dependencies while making timely decisions with incomplete information.
