This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North America.
• Develop and maintain the real-time enforcement layer while adhering to a millisecond latency budget.
• Create pipelines for signal processing that transition from decision-making to action across sending, receiving, and account activities.
• Establish detection rules and policies while ensuring they remain safe to modify.
• Identify and mitigate account takeovers and leaked API keys without disrupting legitimate users.
• Complete the feedback loop by assessing detection accuracy and retiring rules that negatively impact legitimate senders.
• Automate processes for investigations, appeals, and bulk actions.
• Construct and assess machine learning classifiers for spam and phishing, ensuring precision is validated prior to enforcement.
• Implement protective measures and guarantee that actions are traceable through logs, metrics, and audit trails.
• Influence technical decisions and guide projects from initial discovery to final production.
• Work closely with developers utilizing Resend's email platform.
• Over 5 years of experience in software engineering.
• Proficient in both written and spoken English.
• Extensive expertise in Node.js, TypeScript, React, Hono, and Next.js.
• Experience with Go or a willingness to learn for latency-sensitive services.
• Skills in infrastructure and reliability using AWS, CDK, and Datadog.
• Familiarity with APIs, event-driven architectures, queues, and stateful services.
• Capability to design systems that are fail-safe and consider false positives as bugs.
• Strong skills in observability, including metrics, logs, tracing, and error handling.
• Ability to take full ownership of the stack, from frontend interfaces to databases and queues.
• Demonstrated database experience with Postgres and Redis.
• Experience in trust and safety, fraud, or security is a highly favorable qualification.
• Proven experience in building real-time enforcement solutions like rate limiting or rules engines using policy languages such as CEL is an exceptional advantage.
• Production experience in deploying machine learning or LLM-based detection systems while measuring precision and recall is an exceptional-fit qualification.
• Understanding of email systems, including SPF, DKIM, DMARC, bounces, complaints, and phishing campaigns, is an exceptional advantage.
• Knowledge of performance tuning for Postgres and Redis is a notable exceptional-fit qualification.
