Software Engineer, Storage

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +32 more states.

📋 Description

• Work closely with Engineering teams to investigate and create new features, address technical debt, and enhance application performance

• Design, develop, and sustain storage-related contributions to the PHP control plane

• Integrate Python orchestration scripts to oversee and automate cloud storage operations

• Contribute to the open-source Ceph project to guarantee reliability, performance, and quality of features

• Design and provide solutions for cloud providers tailored for high-performance computing, AI training, and inference tasks

• Develop Object, Block, and File storage solutions

• Collaborate with both internal and external teams to facilitate the resourcing and deployment of new features

• Optimize and refactor existing codebases for improved performance and maintainability

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in software engineering with a specialization in storage or distributed systems

• Proficient in PHP and Python with a background in developing control plane and orchestration code

• Familiarity with cloud storage architectures and technologies

• Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix operating systems

• Experience with distributed systems and networking principles

• Basic understanding of Docker and Kubernetes

• Strong problem-solving abilities and capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment

• Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences

• Experience in contributing to or managing large open-source projects, preferably Ceph

• Strong commitment to documentation as an essential part of engineering

• Experience with Linux and/or BSD

• Familiarity with Puppet and Ansible

• Experience with the deployment, configuration, and optimization of Ceph

• Background in Test Driven Development

• Knowledge of Go or Lua is a plus

• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines

• Experience in developing and maintaining RESTful APIs
