Software Engineer – Part-time

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Ensure that externally-facing products adhere to standards for reliability, accessibility, error management, performance, and security.

• Establish quality standards for releases and evaluate changes to production systems and products prior to their launch.

• Develop reusable technical resources, templates, authentication patterns, and environment configurations.

• Prepare infrastructure for launches, which includes monitoring, alerts, and backup systems.

• Monitor launched products and phase out those that are no longer in use.

• Conduct audits on products to identify security vulnerabilities and implement necessary remediations.

• Enhance Supabase and Vercel backend configurations while managing credentials and secrets.

• Uphold the security posture of the GitHub organization.

• Address security incidents through triage, remediation, and comprehensive documentation.

• Document data locations and enforce controls for audit logging, backups, retention, and deletion.

• Assist with compliance and data safeguard documentation tailored to partner requirements.

• Set up guardrails for AI-assisted development processes.

• Create clear documentation and runbooks in plain language.

• Mentor team members to enhance their technical judgment and skills.

⛳️ Requirements

• 3-5 years of experience in software engineering, including some background in back-end, infrastructure, and security engineering.

• Full-stack proficiency capable of transforming a working prototype into a production-ready version for relatively straightforward web-based products.

• Experience with AI-assisted development workflows.

• Practical experience in securing production databases, including designing access controls; familiarity with Supabase or similar platforms is preferred.

• Working knowledge of modern web hosting platforms like Vercel, Netlify, or similar, along with secure configuration practices.

• Hands-on experience with credential management, API security, and authentication methods.

• Ability to clearly articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and produce effective documentation.

• Comfort in operating autonomously within a small organization and making sound prioritization decisions.

• Familiarity with the education sector and student data privacy requirements is a plus.

• Access to high-speed internet is necessary.

• Must verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and complete employment eligibility verification.
