Software Engineer, Open Source AI

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colombia, +2 more countries.

📋 Description

• Implement and uphold open source AI integrations, frameworks, and example applications.

• Develop and sustain public sample applications, SDK extensions, notebooks, and reference implementations that showcase AI and cloud storage best practices.

• Utilize AI-assisted development tools, such as Claude Code, while ensuring the correctness, security, and performance of the solutions.

• Contribute to open source projects through code contributions, issue management, reviews, and continuous maintenance.

• Guarantee that open source assets adhere to standards for testing, documentation, reproducibility, and usability for developers.

• Maintain organized and well-structured GitHub repositories to encourage external adoption and community contributions.

• Collaborate with Product and QA teams to ensure that integrations align with customer AI workflows and Backblaze B2 usage patterns.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience contributing to open source projects using one or more widely adopted open source languages.

• Comfortable managing and maintaining public repositories that involve external users and contributors.

• Solid understanding of AI workflows, including data ingestion, preprocessing, inference, and agent-based systems.

• Experience in writing production-quality code with a strong emphasis on testing and documentation practices.

• Excellent written communication skills, focusing on enhancing developer experience and adoption.

• Proficiency in Python, TypeScript, Go, JavaScript, or other open source languages.

• Familiarity with Backblaze B2 SDKs and REST APIs.

• Knowledge of open source AI frameworks and tools.

• Experience with AI coding agents like Claude Code, Antigravity, and Codex.

• Familiarity with Jupyter and Google Colab notebooks.

• Proficient in using GitHub, pytest, and CI pipelines.
