Software Engineer, Networking – Edge

📋 Description

• Design, develop, assess, and document networking features, connectivity solutions, and the open-source client-code network dataplane.

• Create, manage, and supervise Tailscale’s global Funnel and DERP relay infrastructure.

• Advocate for operational excellence and automation to support scalable, highly available, and high-performing hosted services.

• Improve Funnel and DERP relay infrastructures along with related network protocols.

• Investigate and address complex escalated network issues across various technical environments.

• Sustain live services through observability, incident management, and technical support escalations.

• Assess and enhance the performance, reliability, and scalability of networking systems.

• Offer architectural guidance and resolve escalated customer networking challenges.

• Collaborate with engineering and product teams on hosted services and clients.

• Implement security-focused practices throughout the development of networking components.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated expertise in networking software development and problem-solving.

• Proficient in VPNs, NAT traversal, routing, and IP addressing.

• Familiarity with distributed systems, global-scale services, and SRE & DevOps methodologies.

• Experience with Go is highly preferred.

• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently.

• Adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
