Software Engineer, Networking – Edge

📋 Description

• Design, develop, assess, and document networking functionalities, connectivity solutions, and open-source client-code network dataplane.

• Design and manage Tailscale’s global Funnel and DERP relay infrastructure.

• Advocate for operational excellence and automation to achieve scalable, highly available, and efficient hosted services.

• Improve the Funnel and DERP relay infrastructure along with related network protocols.

• Investigate and address intricate escalated networking issues.

• Sustain live services through observability, incident management, and technical support escalations.

• Assess and enhance the performance, reliability, and scalability of networking systems.

• Implement security-focused practices throughout the development of networking components.

• Offer architectural guidance and collaborate with engineering and product teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in networking software development and troubleshooting.

• Proficiency in VPNs, NAT traversal, routing, and IP addressing.

• Background in distributed systems and managing global-scale services.

• Familiarity with SRE and DevOps methodologies.

• Experience with Go is highly preferred.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.

• Capability to work independently and asynchronously.

• Flexibility in adapting to a dynamic startup environment.
