This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.
• Develop software that manages the physical network layer, ranging from 1GBASE-T connectors to 400G long-reach optics.
• Create control software that supports forwarding engines, connectors, and gearbox interface chips.
• Construct instrumentation and telemetry tools to monitor and troubleshoot the health of physical links.
• Collaborate with Optics teams to establish standards for new media and facilitate their market introduction.
• Enhance features, resolve issues, and optimize code for better scalability and performance.
• Take ownership of projects from initial definition through to deployment and customer engagement.
• Work closely with customers, product management, and hardware engineers to develop Layer 1 features.
• Architect, design, and oversee the development of features.
• Review and contribute to both functional and design specifications.
• Develop automated tests and the necessary testing infrastructure.
• Collaborate with hardware and manufacturing teams to launch PHYs and transceivers into the market.
• Partner with hardware engineers to create software control interfaces for Layer 1 components.
• Provide technical leadership across various features, projects, and tools.
• Analyze, mitigate, and resolve issues in customer networks alongside Customer Support Engineers and clients.
• Assess system test challenges and implement solutions.
• Mentor new and junior engineers.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering, plus 3 years of relevant experience, or equivalent work experience.
• Proficient in C or C++ and Python.
• Familiarity with UNIX or Linux operating systems.
• Practical understanding of software engineering principles.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and software troubleshooting skills.
• Capacity to independently design solutions and implement features.
• Ability to collaborate effectively in small teams.
• Knowledge of digital communication technologies, including modulation and signal encoding schemes, is a plus.
• Understanding of IP networking and/or distributed systems is an advantage.
• Experience with low-level hardware components is a plus.
