Software Engineer, Lake Analytics Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colombia.

📋 Description

• Manage and enhance current platform functionalities related to provisioning, deployment pipelines, access management, and service lifecycle oversight.

• Oversee the integrations between platform services and internal systems, including CI/CD, identity and secrets management, internal APIs, and event-driven hooks.

• Assist with ongoing access control, data classification, and dynamic data masking initiatives within a Snowflake-based analytical framework.

• Sustain and progressively enhance self-service automation for access provisioning, handling pipeline failures, and monitoring service health.

• Leverage existing telemetry, alerting systems, and runbooks to identify and address platform-related issues.

• Engage in on-call duties and manage the triage of production incidents across the supported platform services.

• Record decisions and open discussions to ensure a smooth transition at the conclusion of the contract.

⛳️ Requirements

• Practical experience in managing a cloud analytical data platform such as Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, or comparable technologies.

• Familiarity with access control, data masking/governance, and compute resource management.

• Confidence in operating with elevated access levels and awareness of the associated risks.

• Experience with containerized applications.

• Proficiency in designing CI/CD pipelines utilizing Buildkite, GitHub Actions, or similar tools.

• Background in deployment automation for production services.

• Experience in developing or managing internal platforms, developer tools, or self-service infrastructure.

• Comfort with REST APIs, OAuth/OIDC, webhook ingestion, secrets management, and identity/SSO frameworks in a managed cloud setting.

• Strong skills in Python and SQL.

• Ability to take ownership of alerts and runbooks created by others.

• Experience in conducting root cause analysis to resolve incidents effectively.

• Prior experience integrating into an existing codebase or platform mid-project as a contractor or new team member, quickly becoming productive with minimal onboarding.

• Excellent written communication skills.

• Capability to provide concise async updates and documentation within a specified engagement timeframe.
