Software Engineer III – Security Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead the implementation of security designs and best practices across cloud, platform, and client applications.

• Develop, deploy, and enhance engineering components and services in line with EVgo’s strategic objectives.

• Work alongside Product and Design teams to evaluate trade-offs and provide solutions for new products and services.

• Collaborate within cross-functional engineering teams to deliver comprehensive software solutions.

• Offer technical guidance and advocate for availability, scalability, operational excellence, and cost-effectiveness.

• Mentor engineers and perform code reviews.

• Contribute expertise to greenfield projects and promote innovative solutions.

• Direct key elements of EVgo’s platform and influence its technical roadmap throughout the engineering organization.

• Partner with Engineering, Product, Data, and Marketing teams to ensure technical strategy aligns with organizational goals.

⛳️ Requirements

• Generally requires a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years with a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years of experience; or equivalent experience.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.

• Prior experience in identity, authorization, and billing domains is highly advantageous.

• Experience in designing ReBAC authorization models on OpenFGA is preferred.

• Proficiency in AWS, IoT, and compliance issues.

• A forward-thinking understanding of the changing security landscape.

• Knowledge of the threats and opportunities associated with AI is preferred.

• Experience leading significant initiatives from conception to completion.

• Experience in designing and implementing security strategies for public-facing software products, including API protection, client/backend communication, and software supply chain.

• Experience with the Node.js ecosystem is strongly preferred.

• Experience iteratively enhancing existing systems and proactively evaluating future risks.

• An architectural mindset with attention to detail and strong communication skills.

• Familiarity with CI/CD practices, observability, and monitoring tools.

• Ability to collaborate across Software Engineering, Product, and other teams.

• Experience in maintaining, analyzing, and debugging Node.js services in production settings.

• Willingness to view mistakes as learning opportunities and engage in blameless postmortems.
