Software Engineer III

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Develop and enhance a platform that provides competitive, near-real-time pricing for shipping clients

• Design and implement highly complex, scalable solutions that support near-real-time decision-making systems

• Architect and advance microservices, RESTful APIs, event-driven and streaming architectures, along with hybrid relational/NoSQL storage strategies

• Collaborate with architects and cross-functional teams to refine system architecture

• Make design decisions that balance scalability, reliability, performance, and cost

• Create and maintain backend services and data pipelines using Python, and develop frontend user experiences with React

• Develop and manage cloud-native solutions on Azure utilizing Kubernetes

• Design and execute data workflows using Airflow or other DAG-based orchestration frameworks

• Work with MongoDB or similar NoSQL databases and Snowflake or comparable analytical data platforms

• Take full ownership of services and repositories to ensure reliability, scalability, and maintainability

• Decompose complex initiatives, guide estimates and delivery timelines, and oversee execution risks

• Implement unit, integration, and end-to-end testing strategies

• Utilize AI-assisted development tools to expedite workflows and enhance code quality

• Contribute to intelligent automation solutions

• Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to operationalize models and support experimental frameworks

• Apply statistical reasoning or data science principles to enhance system effectiveness

• Lead design discussions and conduct code reviews

• Mentor and support engineers while promoting best practices

• Communicate progress, risks, and technical decisions effectively

• Participate in team planning, prioritization, and execution of deliveries

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in designing and delivering production-grade software

• More than 5 years of experience in Python and backend service development

• At least 5 years of experience with React or other modern frontend frameworks

• Experience in building cloud-native applications, preferably with Azure, using Kubernetes

• Familiarity with MongoDB or similar NoSQL databases and Snowflake or equivalent analytical platforms

• Experience with data pipelines and workflow orchestration, such as Airflow

• Proficiency in designing and consuming APIs and distributed systems

• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and contemporary DevOps practices

• Capability to independently own and deliver complex features or services

• Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools and creating intelligent workflows, such as Copilot

• Familiarity with agentic or LLM-based frameworks, such as LangChain/LangSmith or similar frameworks and orchestration tools

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience

• Preferred: experience collaborating with data science teams to deliver production models

• Preferred: background in statistical modeling, experimentation, or data-driven decision systems

• Preferred: experience in pricing, logistics, or other high-scale transactional systems

• Preferred: strong communication skills with the ability to influence technical and product decisions

• Preferred: proven ability to mentor engineers and contribute to team development

• Preferred: experience with monitoring tools such as DataDog, Prometheus, or Grafana
