Software Engineer II, Marketplace Optimization

📋 Description

• Create, develop, and manage scalable backend systems for real-time marketplace decision-making, matching, offer selection, and monetization.

• Establish platform capabilities for experimentation with allocation strategies, marketplace economics, and monetization techniques.

• Construct reliable and observable services that balance availability, latency, accuracy, and operational simplicity.

• Collaborate with teams from Product, Machine Learning, Pricing Engineering, Data Science, Capital Markets, and Lending Partnerships.

• Make architectural choices that simplify systems, reduce dependencies, and foster reusable marketplace functionalities.

• Utilize Generative AI tools for implementation, testing, debugging, documentation, and learning while retaining accountability for technical decisions, security, code quality, and accuracy.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field (or its equivalent) alongside 2 years of software engineering experience.

• Proven experience in designing, building, and managing scalable backend or distributed systems in a production environment.

• Proficient in developing production services using one or more contemporary backend programming languages.

• Demonstrated experience in constructing and operating business-critical systems with capabilities in testing, monitoring, incident response, and root cause analysis.

• Skilled in designing production systems where reliability, availability, observability, and accuracy are paramount.

• Preferred: background in marketplaces, financial systems, recommendation or matching engines, optimization systems, or experimentation platforms.

• Preferred: familiarity with low-latency, high-throughput distributed system design and architecture.

• Preferred: experience collaborating with machine learning or data science teams.

• Preferred: knowledge of Ruby, Ruby on Rails, Python, or Kotlin.

• Preferred: capability to navigate complex technical and business challenges and assess trade-offs.
