Software Engineer II – Build Tools

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.

📋 Description

• Develop technology solutions, assess requirements, and seek advice from managers and colleagues.

• Engage in design discussions and produce diagrams and design documentation.

• Write and amend code, perform unit and integration testing, and resolve bugs.

• Collaborate with team members on code integration and take part in code reviews.

• Attend team meetings and seek guidance on best practices.

• Participate in the on-call rotation, troubleshoot incidents, analyze production logs, and assist in root-cause analysis.

• Work across team boundaries to comprehend contributions to Torc’s wider product offerings.

• Enhance documentation coverage with runbooks, tutorials, API documentation, and user guidance.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree with 4+ years of experience, or a Master's degree with 0–3 years of experience.

• Capability to address critical challenges with minimal oversight and strong independent judgment.

• Expertise in AWS core services: IAM, EC2, and S3.

• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, EKS, or ECS.

• Proficiency in an object-oriented programming language, preferably Python.

• Strong skills in Bash and Go scripting/templating.

• Practical experience with Bazel, CMake, Maven, or Gradle.

• Experience using Parasoft, SonarQube, or CodeQL for code coverage analysis.

• Intermediate proficiency with GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab, ArgoCD, Temporal, AWS Step Functions, or Argo Workflows.

• Understanding of Datadog, CloudWatch, or New Relic.

• Bonus: Experience with JFrog Artifactory or similar artifact/package registries.

• Bonus: Knowledge of safety-critical or embedded software practices, including MISRA C, VectorCAST, or similar tools.

• Bonus: Exposure to C/C++ in addition to Python.
