Software Engineer II, Backend, Identity Decisioning

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Decompose larger projects into manageable tasks, deliver them in several phases, and collaborate to guarantee timely completion.

• Work alongside product management, design, and analytics during the brainstorming and decision-making phases.

• Clearly communicate technical limitations and evaluate risks and trade-offs.

• Develop and track metrics for operational support and availability.

• Raise issues when necessary.

• Assist with ongoing support and on-call responsibilities.

• Engage in growth and development initiatives, including participation in interviews.

• Construct backend systems that authenticate consumer identity across Affirm products and comply with regulatory requirements such as KYC.

• Collaborate with Product, Compliance, Auth, Fraud, and engineering teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 1.5 years of experience as a software engineer.

• Experience in designing, developing, and deploying backend systems.

• Proficient in Python or Kotlin.

• Knowledge of distributed systems building blocks.

• Familiarity with AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.

• Capability to design solutions that encompass multiple software components.

• Skill in writing clear, well-tested, and extensible code.

• Ability to navigate a large codebase and debug code written by others.

• Experience in providing feedback during code reviews.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
