This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.
• Develop and deploy features within a C#/.NET and SQL Server environment, extending into React and Node (TypeScript) with Postgres for newer products.
• Engage with the entire codebase of the team, including legacy ASP.NET applications and newer services.
• Proactively address technical and product-related issues.
• Assist in maintaining CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks, UAT and production environments, and participate in the production support rotation.
• Gain an understanding of team objectives, compliance deadlines, and state reporting cycles that influence the project roadmap.
• Write code that is clean and easy to review, while also reviewing code from teammates.
• Collaborate closely with the Product Owner to comprehend customer issues reflected in tickets.
• Contribute to estimation and planning by providing technical insights.
• Participate as a member of a self-managing Scrum team, sharing ownership of commitments.
• Act as a primary contributor to story output, delivering software utilized by state education agencies.
• At least 3 years of professional experience in software engineering.
• Practical experience with C# and .NET, or equivalent backend development experience such as Java.
• Strong foundation in computer science principles, including algorithms, data structures, and coding proficiency.
• In-depth knowledge of object-oriented analysis, design, and development.
• Proficiency in relational database management skills, including writing complex queries and understanding schema design in SQL Server, Postgres, or similar systems.
• Competence in JavaScript/TypeScript and familiarity with a modern front-end framework.
• Experience delivering results swiftly in an Agile team setting, encompassing source control, CI/CD, and automated testing.
• Generalist mindset and readiness to work with any tool or language necessary for the job.
• A collaborative spirit, with a genuine belief in shared ownership of work and mutual support.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a proactive approach to asking questions early rather than remaining blocked.
• Familiarity with a major public cloud provider; experience with Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud is preferred.
• Preferred: Ability to tackle challenges beyond your current expertise and see them through to resolution.
• Preferred: A keen eye for identifying issues within the code, processes, or team dynamics, and a willingness to address them.
• Preferred: Interest in mentoring peers and evolving into a technical leadership role over time.
• Preferred: Familiarity with Entity Framework or similar .NET patterns.
• Preferred: Experience utilizing AI/GenAI tools to enhance development and support efficiency.
