This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.
• Design and implement features within a C#/.NET and SQL Server framework, extending to React and Node (TypeScript) with Postgres for newer products.
• Engage with the entire codebase of the team, including both legacy ASP.NET applications and modern services.
• Actively address technical and product challenges.
• Oversee the broader engineering environment, which includes CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks, UAT and production settings, and participating in production support rotation.
• Acquire a deep understanding of team objectives, compliance deadlines, and state reporting cycles to influence the project roadmap.
• Produce clean, reviewable code and participate in code reviews for fellow team members.
• Work closely with the Product Owner to grasp customer issues related to tickets.
• Contribute to project estimation and planning by providing technical insights.
• Actively participate in a self-managing Scrum team, sharing accountability for team commitments.
• Play a key role in delivering features that state agencies rely on.
• At least 3 years of professional experience in software engineering.
• Practical experience with C# and .NET, or equivalent backend development experience such as Java.
• Strong foundation in computer science principles, including algorithms, data structures, and coding proficiency.
• Comprehensive understanding of object-oriented analysis, design, and development.
• Proficient in relational database management: crafting complex queries and comprehending schema design in SQL Server, Postgres, or similar systems.
• Working knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript and a contemporary front-end framework.
• Experience delivering results swiftly in an Agile team setting, encompassing source control, CI/CD, and automated testing.
• Generalist mindset with a readiness to adapt to various tools and languages as needed.
• Enthusiasm for collaboration and a strong belief in shared ownership of tasks and mutual support.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, along with a proactive approach to asking questions early to avoid roadblocks.
• Familiarity with a leading public cloud provider; experience with Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud is a plus.
• Preferred: Ability to tackle challenges beyond current expertise and follow through on them.
• Preferred: A knack for identifying issues—be it in code, processes, or team dynamics—and striving to resolve them.
• Preferred: Interest in mentoring colleagues and progressing into a technical leadership position over time.
• Preferred: Experience with Entity Framework or similar .NET patterns.
• Preferred: Knowledge of leveraging AI/GenAI tools to enhance development and support efficiency.
