Software Engineer I

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop, test, and maintain software applications based on approved specifications, prototypes, and technical requirements.

• Utilize sanctioned AI-assisted development tools while ensuring ownership of solution quality, maintainability, and performance.

• Create and uphold automated tests to validate functionality and ensure reliable deployments.

• Participate in code reviews, incorporating feedback to enhance software quality and engineering practices.

• Deploy software through established CI/CD pipelines while adhering to development, release, and version-control standards.

• Collaborate with Systems Engineering and other technical teams to address application infrastructure needs.

• Query and maintain data within relational database systems using SQL.

• Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve software defects and production challenges.

• Support software validation, traceability, and documentation requirements for regulated systems.

• Adhere to company standards regarding security, privacy, and AI governance.

• Continuously enhance technical skills and stay updated with advancing software development technologies and practices.

• Work under the direction of the Director of Software Engineering and collaborate with both technical and business stakeholders.

• Progress towards a Software Engineer II role through mentorship, hands-on experience, and increased technical responsibilities.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field; equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered.

• 1-3 years of experience in software development, including professional experience, internships, academic projects, or personal projects that showcase software development skills.

• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and the ability to evaluate, validate, and troubleshoot AI-generated code.

• Proficiency in at least two of the following: C#, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, SQL, or Java.

• Understanding of object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, debugging, testing, and version control.

• Experience in writing and executing SQL queries in a relational database environment.

• Familiarity with source control systems, such as Git, and collaborative software development practices.

• Capability to receive and apply technical feedback through code reviews and mentoring.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.

• Flexibility and eagerness to learn new technologies, tools, and development methodologies.

• Availability to work Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM.

• Preferred: experience with modern AI-assisted software development tools.

• Preferred: exposure to CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and software deployment methodologies.

• Preferred: experience with cloud platforms, ideally Microsoft Azure.

• Preferred: web application development using HTML, CSS, and modern JavaScript frameworks like React.

• Preferred: knowledge of application architecture, API development, and system integrations.

• Preferred: experience in sensitive, regulated, or highly governed data environments.

• Preferred: familiarity with software validation, traceability, change control, audit readiness, or quality-centric development practices.

• Preferred: awareness of software security, privacy, and secure coding principles.
