Software Engineer I

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with team members to deliver clearly defined stories from the team's backlog.

• Write, test, and debug code utilizing a C#/.NET framework and SQL Server.

• Gain experience with React and Node (TypeScript) while working on newer products with Postgres.

• Familiarize yourself with the codebase and the educator application-to-licensure domain.

• Engage in code reviews, offering and receiving constructive feedback.

• Contribute to testing, documentation, and production support tasks.

• Actively participate in a self-managing Scrum team, including all ceremonies and team delivery commitments.

• Progress towards the role of Software Engineer II with support from management.

⛳️ Requirements

• Solid foundation in computer science principles, including algorithms, data structures, and proficiency in at least one programming language.

• Basic knowledge of full-stack web development, encompassing web requests, client/server interactions, HTML, and the DOM.

• Understanding of the software development lifecycle, source control, testing, and CI/CD processes.

• Practical knowledge of relational databases and proficiency in SQL.

• A strong intellectual curiosity and a desire for personal growth and improvement.

• Openness to seek assistance and an ability to learn and build upon new knowledge.

• Effective written and verbal communication skills.

• A collaborative mindset and a genuine interest in addressing challenges faced by schools.

• Preferred: familiarity with C#/.NET or another object-oriented programming language like Java.

• Preferred: experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and a modern front-end framework such as React, Angular, or Vue.

• Preferred: knowledge of a major public cloud provider; the company utilizes Azure for development.

• Preferred: experience through internships, co-ops, apprenticeships, or personal projects involving the delivery of working software.

• Preferred: a passion for education, public sector technology, or mission-driven endeavors.
