Software Engineer, Database Reliability – Performance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +7 more countries.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of and implement automated workflows for reliability, regression, and correctness testing within the CI/CD pipeline.

• Develop and uphold consistent test contracts that ensure the accuracy of queries, the product lifecycle, database compactions, and recoverability.

• Mimic real-world customer scenarios, including database restarts, memory exhaustion, and deployments for comprehensive reliability assessments.

• Work collaboratively with core developers to translate engineering specifications and customer root-cause analyses into formalized, repeatable testing criteria.

• Analyze intricate performance data discrepancies and document system profiles.

• Detect architectural bottlenecks prior to production deployment.

• Engage in an on-call rotation as necessary.

• Create and assess automated reports that highlight query latency regressions, data divergence issues, and resource starvation concerns for engineering stakeholders.

⛳️ Requirements

• Significant hands-on experience in development using Rust, or a willingness to learn Rust with a background in C++ or Golang.

• Demonstrated success in frameworks for performance, regression, and reliability validation.

• Capability to create repeatable baselines for distributed data systems.

• A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree.

• At least 5 years of professional experience.

• Proficiency in using modern AI assistants and tools like Claude.

• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.

• Knowledge of CI utilities such as CircleCI.

• Strong verbal and written communication abilities.

• Capacity to work asynchronously.
