Senior Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Russia.

📋 Description

• Create and develop REST and gRPC services and APIs for user authentication, account management, and wallet functionalities.

• Take full ownership of backend services from beginning to end, encompassing design, implementation, release, production operations, and on-call duties.

• Establish service boundaries, integration contracts, and determine data ownership across different services.

• Design data models and storage solutions; enhance schemas and optimize queries.

• Construct event-driven and asynchronous workflows.

• Ensure observability through metrics, logging, tracing, and alerting mechanisms.

• Engage in on-call responsibilities, incident response, and conduct post-mortems.

• Enhance CI/CD processes, infrastructure-as-code, testing protocols, and the overall engineering environment.

• Review and evaluate code contributions.

• Set up and manage AI tools within repositories.

• Document and make architectural decisions using RFCs or ADRs.

• Collaborate with product managers, designers, backend and frontend engineers, QA specialists, and DevOps teams.

• Provide support for Xsolla ID identity/authentication and Xsolla ZK Web3 wallet infrastructure products.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of professional backend development experience.

• Proficiency in Go, including idiomatic coding, concurrency management with goroutines, channels, context, and cancellation; as well as memory and performance profiling using pprof.

• Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and MySQL, including schema design, indexing, query plans, transactions, isolation levels, and safe migration practices.

• Knowledge of Redis caching, with an understanding of invalidation and consistency trade-offs.

• Familiarity with service architecture and distributed-systems trade-offs, including considerations of consistency, availability, idempotency, retries, and failure modes.

• Experience in asynchronous messaging and event-driven design using technologies such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or NATS.

• Expertise in REST and gRPC API design, including versioning, backward compatibility, OpenAPI/Swagger, and Protobuf.

• Understanding of application security principles, including OWASP Top 10, secrets management, and secure handling of user data.

• Knowledge of server-side OAuth 2.0/OIDC, including flows, tokens, and session management.

• Proficiency in Docker and Kubernetes for deploying and troubleshooting services.

• Experience with observability tools such as Datadog or similar platforms like Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/Graylog, or OpenTelemetry.

• Capable of performing unit, integration, and contract testing.

• Familiarity with Git and CI/CD processes, including GitLab CI or equivalent systems.

• Daily practical use of AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor, including repository configuration.

• Ability to comprehend technical documentation in English.
