Software Engineer, Data Intern – 8 months

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Oversee the complete lifecycle of technically complex projects in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

• Take responsibility for features, services, caches, and databases, which includes deployment, monitoring, debugging, and testing.

• Produce production-ready, thoroughly tested code starting from your first week.

• Engage with the product analytics backend service and data pipelines.

• Ingest, cleanse, validate, and organize raw data for both product and analytical purposes.

• Transform data to support analysis, insight generation, and informed decision-making.

• Assist in shaping data strategies between organizational systems to ensure consistent and predictable consumption.

• Collaborate with stakeholders to comprehend existing processes and design as well as implement enhanced, automated workflows.

• Develop, maintain, and improve processes that ensure end-to-end reliability from application development to the post-production enterprise data warehouse.

• Work alongside full-time developers and take part in team meetings, Slack conversations, and social gatherings.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 8 months of experience in backend development.

• Proven experience in taking ownership and delivering complete features end-to-end, including effective communication with key stakeholders.

• Strong understanding of relational databases and proficiency in SQL.

• Interest in ETL/ELT tools and the development of data pipelines.

• Enthusiasm for working with Python on the backend.

• Interest in designing schemas, data modeling, and utilizing data warehouses.

• Quick learner with the ability to adapt across various languages and technologies.

• Availability to work 40 hours a week.

• Minimum of a 6-hour overlap with the Eastern Time Zone.

• Must be available during core working hours of 9/10 am–5/6 pm EST, Monday to Friday, with some flexibility.

• Candidates must reside in Canada for the duration of the role.

• Current enrollment in a school, college, or university and submission of an unofficial grade report is required.

• The internship must be a part of an academic program or completed independently.

• Candidates must remain in the country where their educational institution is located for the entire internship period.
